“Georgia Schools At War” Booklet 1944

Created to promote the sale of war savings bonds, this booklet also offers an interesting description of the life of a war savings bond and a cartoon likely drawn by Dr. Seuss. Theodor Seuss Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, created many political cartoons relating to the war in Europe during his time as chief editorial cartoonist for the New York newspaper PM between 1940 and 1948. The squander bug, featured in the cartoon, was Seuss’s adaptation of character designed by the British National Savings Committee. The squander bug became an internationally recognizable character.
